USMEF Great American BBQ 2024

An idyllic autumn Hong Kong evening played host to this year’s USMEF Great American BBQ at the Kowloon Cricket Club on 29 November 2024.

Hosted and sponsored by the Texas Beef Council, USMEF and USDA, the BBQ promotes and showcases US beef and Hong Kong’s talented chefs. There’s beef cooked straight, smoked, dry-aged, Tawan hotpot style, burgers, and sausages to name a few of the different ways… A feast for the taste buds!

USMEF Oktoberfest in Central Market – 29 October, 2024

Oktoberfest is one of those fun festivals that has been adopted globally. And just as Songkran encourages us to soak others in water, Oktoberfest is an ‘excuse’ for people around the world to have fun and dance on the table…

The US Meat Export Federation hosted a night at Oktoberfest in Central Market on 29 October. The open centre of the market has been converted into a Hong Kong style German Beer Hall including a stage where traditional German music from the Notenhobler’s sets the mood.

There’s a range of traditional German dishes: pork knuckle, pretzels, sauerkraut, apple strudel and some delicious US pork ribs.

After dinner, while enjoying your beer, you can blow the big horn and start the party with some fun games.

Nikola Estates Wine Dinner @ Frites North Point

Frites North Point hosted a wine dinner on 25 September: the fine flavours of USDA-certified beef and pork accompanied by 6 delicious wines from Nikola Estates.

Great American Texas BBQ @ Kowloon Cricket Club – 5 December, 2019

The annual Great American Texas BBQ is a feast of beef, where Hong Kong’s US beef importers showcase their favourite cuts cooked in a truly mouthwatering range of styles.

For over twenty years the BBQ has been hosted and sponsored by the Texas Beef Council, USMEF and USDA with Taiwanese band Whisky River returning to soundtrack the evening. Among those attending were the new US Consul General Hanscom Smith and USMEF CEO Dan Halstrom.

World Champion BBQ-master Timothy Broderick of Pit Ventures was back showcasing his smoked brisket and short ribs.

The mutual shared appreciation and enjoyment of good food stimulates conversation and the creation of new friendships and business opportunities.

While good food engenders conversation, strangely great food often silences it. The flavours and textures creating a sensory overload in the brain such that all you can do is luxuriate in the moment, before joyfully taking another bite…

Great American Texas BBQ @ Kowloon Cricket Club – 27 November, 2018

An evening of heavy cold rain added a unique local flavour to the Great American Texas BBQ 2018 but did little to dampen the enjoyment of prime US meat.

The rain did though allow for demonstrations of considerable dexterity, eating tasty US beef ribs, while holding a plate full of burgers, sausage, chilli, artisan US cheese, sushi; a beer; an umbrella and for the really skilled taking a selfie… And the creation of new friendships as umbrellas, plates and recommendations were shared.

Hosted and sponsored by the Texas Beef Council, USMEF and USDA with music from Taiwanese band Whisky River, the evening promotes and showcases Texas beef and artisanal US products. World Champion BBQ-master Timothy Broderick of Pit Ventures was there with his legendary brisket and short ribs.

The Great American Texas BBQ returned to the Kowloon Cricket Club for an evening of ‘beef beautiful beef’ cooked in a plethora of tasty ways  – including smoked by World Champion pit-master Timothy Broderick. 5th Annual Nebraska Beef Macau BBQ @ Studio City – 14 November, 2016

The 5th Annual American BBQ, Nebraska in Macau took place at Studio City on the 14 November, 2016. Over 300 people including US Consul General Kurt Tong and Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts enjoyed Nebraska and US beef, pork and lamb cooked and prepared in over 20 different ways.

Sponsored by the Nebraska Beef Council and organised by US Meat Export Federation and the Nebraska and US Agricultural Trade Offices in HK with assistance from Angliss. The annual event looks to raise awareness of the quality and taste of American meat and agricultural produce.
