Kraftwerk 3-D vision @ Star Hall, KITEC – 4 May, 2013
The enigma that is Kraftwerk have provided a soundtrack to the computer world for over 40 years. More theatre than concert, the synchronized visual projections, lights and robotics accentuate Kraftwerk’s antiseptic yet compelling melodies and hypnotic lyrics – which reveal a deadpan humor and an appreciation of the absurd.

Grimes + Ami Dang @ KITEC – 7.30pm, 18 March 2013 Claire Boucher aka Grimes cannot read music and has no understanding of music theory or notation. This results in songs that are particularly unique, strangely beautiful, sometimes scary, frequently melancholic and catchy as hell.
Grimes is weird pop influenced by styles such as (to name a few) R&B, Industrial, goth, hip hop and Western medieval organum. She is noted for simple but strong percussion, vocal virtuosity, and addictive melodies. Despite having little acquaintance with music before the age of 18, Boucher (22) has overcome this barrier and used it to her advantage, exploding onto the music scene with a sound that is that is far different from that of her peers, and extremely broad in it’s references (Mariah Carey, Salem, Cocteau Twins, Gang Gang Dance, The Smiths, Prince). And yet, while all Grimes songs are different and genre-bending, there is a strong sound that is fully her own, characterized primarily by her chameleon-like voice. The Montreal native will be coming to Hong Kong for an unforgettable night at KITEC’s MusicZone on March 18th.
