Folk Ensemble Martisorul
HK City Hall, Concert Hall, 5pm, Free, Tel: 2268 7323
Founded in 1957 by a few adventurous and talented students eager to put Romanian folk treasures on stage. They named the ensemble as Martisorul, meaning generations and generations of young people.  Eager to dedicate their love and youthful energy to the popular art, these young people have contributed to the legacy of Romanian folk arts. The originality and authenticity of the group's repertoire, the beauty and the variety of the costumes, the craftsmanship in interpreting musical and choreographic folklore are the factors that made Martisorul famous
Film
Golden Phoenix
Director: Yan Jun
HK Film Archive, Cinema, 7:30pm, $30, Tel: 2734 9009
Golden Phoenix was produced as a response to the popularity of Singing under the Moon, with Yan Jun again assuming the double role of actor-director. Lin Dai plays a country daughter, who sings in the hill while herding sheep. Yan and Li likely based the character on their star's willful nature, creating scenes that highlight Lin's fieriness, culminating in a scene in which she confronts the villains, all alone, on a raining night.
Humiliation for Sale
Director: Yan Jun
HK Film Archive, Cinema, 12noon, $30, Tel: 2734 9009
If Humiliation for Sale had been released immediately after it was made in 1953 instead of being shelved until 1958, Lin Dai's early career would not have been marked so exclusively by roles of village girls. Her performance as the daughter of Yan Jun's hapless clown is a delightful blend of youthful innocence, childlike naivete and headstrong charm, creating a persona of urban femininity that resurfaced more formidably later in her career.
The Blue and The Black
Director: Doe Ching
HK Film Archive, Cinema, 2:30pm, $30, Tel: 2734 9009
A two-part film set during World War II, it follows a singer who searches battle-scarred China for her lover, who is entangled with Japanese invaders, communist insurgents, and a warlord's beautiful daughter.
The Blue and The Black 2
Director: Doe Ching
HK Film Archive, Cinema, 5pm, $30, Tel: 2734 9009
“Why give us black after giving us blue?” The sorrow of Lin Dai's character in The Blue and the Black takes on extra poignancy considering that it is one of her last roles, remaining unfinished because of the star's untimely death before the film was completed. The blue stands for hope in the film, but it is the darkness represented by the black that has come to dominate our experience of it.

Golden Lotus is an early challenge for Lin Dai's acting skills, requiring her to play two roles, one a maiden from a rich family and the other a lass of poor upbringing, the former a genteel soul who sacrifices her self interests and the latter a strong-willed songstress who valiantly pursues her heart's desires.

HK Science Museum, Lecture Hall, 3pm, $50, Tel: 2734 9009
After performing his military service, Paul meets the stunning Madeleine. From dating to ending up on bed, the two are enveloped in the political atmosphere of their times – Charles de Gaulle runs for his second presidency, the Vietnam War triggered an anti-war wave... Paul is concerned about social issues, but cannot change the status quo. Madeleine laughs away her days, and cannot care less about international matters. The interaction between the two reflects the contradictions in a billowy era.

"A film adrift in the cosmos", "A film found on a scrap heap" - Week End's accusation against the French society was no less than Godard's other works. With a stronger storyline and grander scenes, the film continues to serve as a platform for Godard's criticism and prophecy of contemporary politics.

Under the guide of the architect, Chongzhen takes his last stroll along the Forbidden City, before the end of the dynasty revealing the building intension of the world's largest wooden-structure palace city. Kunqu, also known as Kunqu Opera, incorporates singing, dance and literature, and is a showcase of a variety of performing art forms. In 2001, UNESCO declared Kunqu as one of the “Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity”.
